Matt Adams On The Rise
There are a few players in the Cardinals Farm System that I feel are truly legit enough to make the majors in a few years or less. One of the players I can't wait to see take his place as the Cardinals official first baseman is Matt Adams. This 6'3 hulking figure has only spent two in the Cardinals minor league system to amass 64 home runs and 241 RBIs while playing for Johnson City , Batavia, Quad Cities and Springfield from 2009 to 2011. Matt was also chosen for Cardinals Minor League Player of the Year (2011). Adams also finished his turn at the invitation-only Arizona Fall League this past month with a .250 average, four homers and 19 RBIs in 20 games. A scout with an opposing National League team calls Adams "the top position prospect they have" in the Cardinals' system. I believe that the Cardinals will make room for his bat. With one more year with Berkman at first base we should see this power hitter in 2013. I am hoping big things for this big man.
