It was nice to find out that the Cardinals avoided salary arbitration with McClellan and signed him for a one year deal. No information in regards to salary has been released at this time. I thought that Kyle did a great job in 2011 splitting his time as a starting pitcher and a middle reliever. In 17 starts he 6-6 with a 4.61 era as a starter. McClellan was a part time starting pitcher till the Cardinals traded for Edwin Jackson.
I had always felt that McClellan had a lot of talent and had enough worth to help upgrade the Cardinal team if they needed to trade him. With McClellan now in place the Cardinals are now working with Jason Motte in regards to a deal
